Shri Mahavir Ferro Alloys Private Limited (SMFA) started its operations in 2003-04 with a 100 TPD sponge iron kiln at the Kalunga Industrial Estate in Odisha. The company further expanded the capacities of its sponge iron plant with the addition of a third 100 TPD Kiln along with two 12 Ton induction furnaces with a Continuous Casting Machine (for Billet casting) in the year 2008. Adding one more feather to its expansion program, SMFA commissioned a 12 MW coal-based Captive Power Plant in March 2008 to meet the power requirements of its three 100 TPD sponge iron plants and steel melting shop (SMS).

SMFA has its railway siding, which was approved by the South eastern Railways in the year 2007, and its design and engineering got approved in 2009. The company upgraded the railway siding to a private freight terminal to cater to plants’ requirements and get the benefit from railway policies along with the added business opportunities with the various manufacturing plants in the vicinity. In 2011-12, SMFA ventured into producing power using renewable sources by commissioning a 1 MW solar power plant under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission at Tankajoda village in Sundargarh district of Odisha.

Responsible for executing mechanical maintenance of DRI plant – Kiln and associated equipment

- Ensure Kilnavailability to achieve production as per business plan (apart from accretion related downtime)
- Monitoring of efficiency (OEE) of Kiln 1, 2, 3 including sub-equipment
- Support a minimum of 3 improvement projects to enhance equipment uptime / reliability

- Execution and sign off on – CLTI, PM, condition-based monitoring check sheets & schedule compliance
- Executionof kiln shutdown maintenance and monitor effectiveness in the plants
- Monitor & track Kiln KPIs like availability, mean time between failures (MTBF) and mean time to repair (MTTR)
- Participation in root cause analysis for major equipment breakdown and adhere to corrective and preventive action plans
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve maintenance practices and reduce equipment downtime

- Ensure Min-Max levels for all vital and essential spares of Kiln is maintained
- Execute spares refurbishment as per plan
- Ensure ERP driven requisition, issue, indenting of spares

- Provide technical training hours for mechanical team
- Ensure no delays in breakdown maintenance due to manpower shortage

- Ensure zero safety incidents &no loss time injuries in Kiln area
- Ensure compliance as per IMS standards

- Ensure Kiln Uptime
- Ensure completion of shutdown jobs w.r.t Kilns within specified timelines

- Adherence to monthly / weekly / daily - PM / LLF plans
- Adherence to annual shutdown plans and activities
- Raise notifications for any abnormalities and ensure closure of actions

- Optimize breakdown duration (time to repair the equipment - MTTR)
- Participate in RCAs and close CAPA actions

- Drive improvement projects to reduce power consumption for pollution related equipment
- Identify and implement other cost efficiency projects

- Raise indent as required
- Ensure spares availability for maintenance work

- Conduct daily toolbox talks
- Ensure proper near-miss reporting and safety observations reporting
- Ensure 100% permit for any activity
- Train team members on EHS SOPs / processes

- 100% adherence to IMS standards
- Train / coach team members on IMS / SOPs

- Work experience as a Maintenance engineer of steel processing unit
- B.E / Diploma – Mechanical

- Min. 1-5 years of relevant experience required
