Shri Mahavir Ferro Alloys Private Limited (SMFA) started its operations in 2003-04 with a 100 TPD sponge iron kiln at the Kalunga Industrial Estate in Odisha. The company further expanded the capacities of its sponge iron plant with the addition of a third 100 TPD Kiln along with two 12 Ton induction furnaces with a Continuous Casting Machine (for Billet casting) in the year 2008. Adding one more feather to its expansion program, SMFA commissioned a 12 MW coal-based Captive Power Plant in March 2008 to meet the power requirements of its three 100 TPD sponge iron plants and steel melting shop (SMS).
SMFA has its railway siding, which was approved by the South eastern Railways in the year 2007, and its design and engineering got approved in 2009. The company upgraded the railway siding to a private freight terminal to cater to plants’ requirements and get the benefit from railway policies along with the added business opportunities with the various manufacturing plants in the vicinity. In 2011-12, SMFA ventured into producing power using renewable sources by commissioning a 1 MW solar power plant under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission at Tankajoda village in Sundargarh district of Odisha.


Job Objective


Planning engineer is responsible for planning and monitoring a wide range of process improvement projects and plant shutdowns from start to finish. He/she shall ensure that the projects / shutdowns are completed in a timely and efficient manner with highest quality and safety standards.

• Administrative Reporting: Head - CCR

Key Responsibility Areas


1. Scheduling & Monitoring

- Shutdown and project planning - Activity chart / Gantt chart, manpower plan, material plan etc.
- Determine needed resources (manpower, equipment and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations
- Review shutdown activities with division maintenance / operations team to plan parallel activities and reduce shutdown time
- Prepare schedules for continuous improvement projects
- Coordinate with internal departments to ensure availability of resources for shutdown / projects
- Perform critical path analysis to optimize shutdown time and project duration
- Monitor shutdown with the support from process control team to ensure shutdown completion as per approved plan and raise red flags to management

2. Material management

- Determine material required to complete the project / shutdown on time
- Ensure indents are raised on time and follow-up with purchase department to receive material as per schedule
- Ensure zero delays in the project due to material shortage / manpower shortage

3. Project dashboards

- Evaluate progress and prepare detailed reports and present them to management
- Raise red flags for any delay in project/ shutdown duration and resolve the issues

4. Project risk management

- Identify various risks associated with project / shutdown and prepare risk mitigation plan
- Ensure completion of activities in the mitigation plan to minimize the impact of project risks

5. Safety & Compliance

- Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards and report issues
- Ensure compliance to legal requirements of the project
- Comply with IMS standards


Key Performance Indicators


1. Shutdown duration

- Plan and monitor shutdown activities, perform critical path analysis and optimize shutdown duration

2. % of milestones completed on-time

- Review project schedule, perform critical path analysis and ensure completion of all milestones on-time

3. Material availability

- Ensure material and resource availability for shutdown and project activities

4. Project dashboard

- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly shutdown reports / dashboards
- Circulate and present the dashboards to the leadership team

5. Project risk management

- Number of risks / issues identified during a shutdown / project

6. HSE & Legal compliance

- Adherence to all statutory and company regulations & compliances
- Adherence to firm's HSE practices
- Zero safety incidents in the construction premises
- Conduct training on HSE practices & legal requirements


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS


- Work experience as a project planning engineer / PMO lead
- BE/BTech in Metallurgy/ Mechanical
- Knowledge of project management tools (MS Projects, Primavera etc)
- Knowledge of G-suite is a plus
- PMP certification is a plus
- Good understanding of Pellet / DRI process is a plus

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE


- Min. 5 years of relevant experience required
