Shri Mahavir Ferro Alloys Private Limited (SMFA) started its operations in 2003-04 with a 100 TPD sponge iron kiln at the Kalunga Industrial Estate in Odisha. The company further expanded the capacities of its sponge iron plant with the addition of a third 100 TPD Kiln along with two 12 Ton induction furnaces with a Continuous Casting Machine (for Billet casting) in the year 2008. Adding one more feather to its expansion program, SMFA commissioned a 12 MW coal-based Captive Power Plant in March 2008 to meet the power requirements of its three 100 TPD sponge iron plants and steel melting shop (SMS).
SMFA has its railway siding, which was approved by the South eastern Railways in the year 2007, and its design and engineering got approved in 2009. The company upgraded the railway siding to a private freight terminal to cater to plants’ requirements and get the benefit from railway policies along with the added business opportunities with the various manufacturing plants in the vicinity. In 2011-12, SMFA ventured into producing power using renewable sources by commissioning a 1 MW solar power plant under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission at Tankajoda village in Sundargarh district of Odisha.
Job Objective
Responsible for shift operations of Beneficiation plant
• Functional Reporting: Beneficiation Process Engg
• Administrative Reporting: Beneficiation Process Engg
Key Responsibility Areas
1. Shift operations
- Ensure daily production of Filter Cake – quality & quantity and reporting to higher level
- Contract manpower planning – allocation of work area wise
- Minimize plant down time in coordination with maintenance shift in-charge
- Ensure timely sample collection in coordination with labs
- Ensure timely measurement of critical process parameters
- Ensure feed jam in ground hopper are cleared to avoid feed loss
- Ensure process parameters are set in coordination with CRO
- Coordinate for RM feed
- Ensure vehicle availability and ensure utilisation
- Ensure filling up of production logbook and digitizing the same for analysis
- Ensure availability of operations consumables for smooth production

2. Safety & compliance
- Ensure zero safety incidents & lost time injury
- Ensure 5S implementation & safety compliance in all areas of the Beneficiation plant

Key Performance Indicators
1. Daily Planning
- Proper manpower planning to ensure Zero production loss
- Monthly / daily job planning of operators to ensure adherence to production plans

2. Production plan adherence
- Adherence to shift production plan
3. Online transfer
- Maintain online feeding of material as per target
4. Vehicle utilization
- Ensure utilization of vehicles supplied to Beneficiation more than the target
- Escalate any issues of vehicles (late reporting,breakdowns etc) to Beneficiation operations head /vehicles department

5. EHS Compliance
- Conduct daily toolbox talks
- Ensure proper near-miss reporting and safety observations reporting
- Ensure 100% permit for any activity
- Train team members on EHS SOPs / processes

6. IMS Compliance
- Ensure documentation as required - ISO / IMS standards

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Work experience as shift in-charge in Steel plant
- Diploma – Metallurgical / Mechanical / Electrical
- Diploma – Metallurgical / Mechanical / Electrical
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
- Min. 3 years of relevant experience required
