Shri Mahavir Ferro Alloys Private Limited (SMFA) started its operations in 2003-04 with a 100 TPD sponge iron kiln at the Kalunga Industrial Estate in Odisha. The company further expanded the capacities of its sponge iron plant with the addition of a third 100 TPD Kiln along with two 12 Ton induction furnaces with a Continuous Casting Machine (for Billet casting) in the year 2008. Adding one more feather to its expansion program, SMFA commissioned a 12 MW coal-based Captive Power Plant in March 2008 to meet the power requirements of its three 100 TPD sponge iron plants and steel melting shop (SMS).
SMFA has its railway siding, which was approved by the South eastern Railways in the year 2007, and its design and engineering got approved in 2009. The company upgraded the railway siding to a private freight terminal to cater to plants’ requirements and get the benefit from railway policies along with the added business opportunities with the various manufacturing plants in the vicinity. In 2011-12, SMFA ventured into producing power using renewable sources by commissioning a 1 MW solar power plant under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission at Tankajoda village in Sundargarh district of Odisha.
Job Objective
Responsible for the smooth operation and maintenance of the Process Handling (PH) circuit within
the DRI operations, ensuring proper material flow, adherence to safety norms, and efficient process
monitoring

Key Responsibility Areas
1. Contractor performance monitoring
- Develop systems and processes to monitor the performance of service contractors in an objective manner
- Monitor the performance of contractors as per the KPIs/goals defined in the contract documents
- Physical verification – quality of services, on-time completion of work
- Capture learnings from contract monitoring and use those learnings in the future contracts and suggest changes in the contract during revision / extension
- Communicate the contract monitoring processes to all contractors in a timely manner
- Manage record keeping for all contract-related correspondence and documentation
- Monitor the performance of contractors as per the KPIs/goals defined in the contract documents

- Evaluate contractors on the contractor scorecard and share the improvement areas with the contractors
- Blacklist contractors whose performance is not up to the mark

3. Cost optimization
- Review actual requirements of service contracts (In-house vs contract, scope optimization etc) and identify opportunities to optimize cost to the company
- Ensure contract scope is defined clearly to reduce cost of poor-quality work
- Revisit / refine contract terms and conditions, as appropriate, to benefit the organization

- Identify contractor risk and prepare appropriate risk mitigation plans

- Refine major service contracts - CPP, O&M contracts etc.
- Implement best-in-class contract KPIs / goals and terms & conditions

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate or Masters in Operations / Supply chain management / General management / Procurement / Contract management
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 12 years in the Sponge Iron or similar heavy industry
